Left behind

Last year we were ahead of the pack moving south. In fact, many times we were the lead boat for days. Imagine two nerds in a boat doing the ICW for the first time and they are in the lead. If the people behind us only knew.

This year we are left behind and forced to watch everyone go by. We will not be joining the pack for a while, and we are getting kind of bummed about it. We shouldn't feel this way as we made the jump south, we live on a boat in Florida, I'm retired, our youngest daughter's getting married, and we have a grandson coming soon. We are blessed in many ways, but we can't escape the feeling that we are missing out. We want to be wandering as well.

With the wedding in two weeks we will have our minds occupied on something more important than cruising. After the wedding we are moving to St. Augustine for a change of scenery. This should help. Once there we will prepare the boat for offshore voyaging and be ready when the time comes to shove off. We will actually do some day sailing before we leave. How about that! It's been a while.

To all the cruisers heading out we wish you well and we'll see you guys out there eventually.

Cruisers arriving
Cruisers leaving
We'll be chasing that rainbow soon. Wait, that's north.
That's better. Southbound.

Cheers!

  1. I know what you mean about being left behind! But, sailing and a new location in St. Augustine sounds great ... especially to us since we're currently tied down with our house.

I hear St. Augustine is great! It may not be the Bahamas, but it's another new adventure.

  2. Wow. I did ask if you could move to someplace better before we come to visit, but St. Augustine? How cool is that. We'll see you there!
