Butyl (B-U-'till')

I'm going to try and like Butyl tape. The last time I tried this sticky gooey substance it got all over everything and didn't seal for beans. I later found out I had used the wrong stuff. I used the automotive tape which is black and quite sticky as opposed to the super secret gray tape that only one guy on the planet seems to be able to find. I ordered four rolls of the stuff, and it looks fairly thin. I hope it's enough. I'm going to start with the hatches, and then move to the ports. I'm sure this will go a lot better than before, now that I have the good stuff.

The weather cooled down a bit. My chest sweats have dissipated...somewhat. What's up with that anyway? I can feel some extra energy now that I actually have fluids in me, so it's time to get to work. Das boat needs some fixin and it's starting to show. I had this dream that we finally left the dock and when we went to raise the main it came apart like a cheap tissue stopping a sneeze. I'm starting to get paranoid about the boat not moving and working it's systems. I fear we have been too idle - well, I have. Deb works thank God. But really we've been in one place way too long and apparently my slacking has also gone on too long and my mind is becoming unstable, according to friends and relatives reading the last few posts. So, let's get to work and GO SAILING! Who's with me? Oh, it's just me...

Cheers!
P

  1. Paul, glad to see that you got the good stuff, it is thin but it works. Make sure you look at his web pages for how he has used it and installed it, Yes he is the only person on the planet to have this stuff. Love the pesto, those macerators do a wonderful job, I use mine all the time.

    1. Thanks Ed. I forgot he had pages showing the proper use. Someone put out a video using the tape to seal ports, but I forgot where I saw it. That's what made me want to use it again, because I really buggered it up last time. Good to see you making use of the macerator. I thought your Gazpacho had a certain tang to it.

  2. Be careful with that gray butyl tape. It off gases a hallucinogen that when inhaled will give you very bizarre but very real dreams. You'll often believe you are making progress on the to-do list....

    1. I always have Deb to pull me out of my dream state, but even imaginary progress on my to do list is good.
