The morning drive can be smooth as the Lake on a southern breeze, or a stop and go nightmare. This morning looked pretty good until I got behind some apple squeezers. These are the folks who work at Mott's about 5 miles down the road, who leave way too early for work, and just lazily drink their coffee while driving about 5-10 miles under the speed limit. I got behind one of these guys this morning, and with every sip of coffee he would take his foot off the accelerator and slow down, then speed up again when he was done. Annoying yes, but I was preoccupied by the giant spider hanging from the one side mirror I have left. This thing was huge, and dangling in the wind. I really wanted to go faster to get this guy to blow off the van before he crawled into the side mirror housing. You know I hate spiders, right? So, while focused on spidey, the apple squeezer in front of me slammed on the brakes, and by the time I stopped I was inches from the jerks bumper. To the right I saw a white tail go hopping into the woods. Yikes! Came real close to not cruising this year. All was quiet, except for the radio squawking about campaigns, the red glow of tail lights, and the fat spider slipping into the side mirror housing. Apple squeezer and I drove at the speed limit for a while, radio off, heart still pounding, and a good 5 car separation. He turned into the apple juice plant, and I drove off in silence to the car parts plant.
I guess I should stay focused on what I'm doing, and avoid the little distractions.
Boris and Bambi... deadly assasins. Be careful - it's a jungle out there
