Out with the old. In with the new.

Quite a day Thursday. We said goodbye to an old friend, and watched as she was carried off to adventures in Lake Erie. One good pat on the hull, was our kiss goodbye. Seems silly to be emotional about it, but the old girl got us home safely many times. Sometimes people would say, "You guys were out there in that!", and we'd just smile, knowing she handled it with ease, keeping our family safe and dry. As we watched her trucking away, we looked back to the yard and saw that big old 44 waiting for paint and wax. Not sure I have the arms for for all the waxing and buffing, but we'll get her shining this weekend. Found out that she has an Awlgrip paint job. That kind of changes things a bit. Not sure how to cover the dings, and scratches now. Fill with gelcote, and paint over? Matching the paint can be fun. I'm not looking for showroom quality right now, but I don't want to do a crap job either. I guess we'll just wax around the scratches for now. I think this will be the year I get a boat into the water before my birthday. Having a beer in the cockpit, on my birthday has always been a goal. We'll see how she goes, as we have a lot of work ahead of us.
Goodbye WhisperIII. Fair Wind.
