Haze

Tile haze. How many times can you wash tile floors to get rid of the haze? Until next year apparently. I broke down and used haze remover, and a scotchbrite pad. That finally got most of it. Whenever I do finish this kitchen, I will.... Remove the banged up rubrail. Gelcoat the dings Wax the hull. The 44 foot hull from hell. Sand the bottom paint, and apply more, unless I die from the dust. Put the mast together. Hope everything is there. Rip out toilets. Gross. Rip out waste lines. Gross. Rip out waste tank. 135 gallon waste tank. Yes, 135 gallon waste tank. GROSS. Hope it's empty. Pray for me. Now this is what I'm talking about.. I swiped this from http://bitsandpieces1.blogspot.com/

So much to do

Will I ever finish the kitchen? Wiping the haze off the tiles now. I stopped counting how many times I mopped the floor. I also have to get on the hands and knees to get into the corners, and I could not imagine doing this for a living. Being old doesn't help. Bosox ring ceremony today. Nic, you watch it! Fenway had all the Boston champion teams out on the field today. All my hockey gods of the past were there. Orr, Espo, Hodge, The Chief, it looked like they were all there. They were all old and gray too. Damn, so am I. Time waits for no one. They even let Bill Buckner back in town! Wow. Forgiveness at last. Poor bastard got run out of town for letting the ball go between his legs, and letting the Mets take the series. Sometimes we really have our heads in our asses. Forgive and move on...it's just a damn game. Been out to the yard, and saw some folks working already. We spent some time Sunday out there in the sun. Got lot's of work to do to get the big girl floating. WhisperIII is just about ready to ship out. The ice is gone, and the docks should be going in soon. If I ever get out of this kitchen, I'll have some boating topics to write about.

Summer's Coming!

I can feel it. It's coming. I went out to the marina today, being chased by the cold front moving over us. I got there bathed in sunshine, and 64 degrees! It was great. Then it got dark, then it got windy, then it got wet! Really wet. Man did it come down. I was huddled under the tarp in WhisperIII putting the instruments in. The boat was shaking from the wind, and the tarp was about to take off. Then then sun came out again! Sweet. I made my way over to Alert, and bathed in the sun on the deck. It was nice. Then it got dark, then it got windy....
Just a small amount of ice left on the bay, and the lake was a bit on the wild side. There were frogs croaking all over the place. Good sign. Haven't heard them in a while.
Lot's of geese everywhere, and some berry eating sky crapper that's targeting my deck! Even with all the work to get done, it is amazing how the stress rolls off you when you see the boat. Oh hey, I almost forgot about Easter. Hope everyone got to spend some time with their families last week (missed you Nic). I also hope everyone gave some thought about peace in the world. We could use some for a change. Use your voice and make it happen! We all need to lighten up a little, in our politics, our world affairs etc. Especially when it comes to religion.

Home Work

The weather keeps teasing us with some warmth. We get all excited, then wham, back into the 20's. I've been cutting tiles for the kitchen remodel, and working with water in the garage right now is not fun. I bought this POS tile cutter and I swear I will chuck it across the garage before this job is over. You ever buy something that looks ok on the box cover, then you pull it out and your heart sinks because you know it will suck? I got the thing for the bathroom tiles. Small job. Now I'm in the middle of this big job, and I'm going to tough it out because I'm a cheap bastard. Oh well. The lake level looks good. The bay is thawing. The birds are singing. Some folks might be tempted to get out early. Hope they make out better than this guy. I saw this on sailinganarchy.com

The Last?

Well, let's hope that was the last big snowfall. We always get something around St. Pat's day, and then it's smooth sailing from here on out. I watch my neighbor scrape down his driveway every snowfall, so that if the sun comes out, he will have it all melt off. At that point he is standing like a Roman soldier, one hand on the shovel, the other at his hip, proclaiming victory over mother earth, and a fine example for his sloth neighbors. He then advances down that clean black tarmac, retrieves the newspaper from the tube, then takes pause at the top of the hill to gaze at the beauty of his labor. I watch from my frosted window, my sailing magazine in hand, a chart book. "I wonder if Deb can drive through that drift...Maybe we should sail to Gananoque this year. Better check the charts." Your days are numbered Ice People!
